Asbury College Honors Howard Dayton with Doctorate

GAINESVILLE, GA, JUNE 19, 2009 — Asbury College in Wilmore, KY recently conferred upon Howard L. Dayton, cofounder of Crown Financial Ministries, the honorary degree of Doctorate of Laws, LL.D.

Howard Dayton founded Crown Ministries in Orlando, FL in 1985. Crown Ministries merged with Christian Financial Concepts, founded by the late Larry Burkett, in 2000 to become Crown Financial Ministries. Dayton has authored or co-authored more than 14 books and small group studies, teaching people around the globe God’s financial principles. His newest book, Money and Marriage God’s Way (Moody Publishers, April 2009, www.MoneyandMarriage.org), was written with the help of his wife, Bev.

Dayton said of the doctorate from Asbury, “I was deeply grateful to give the commencement address and receive the honorary degree from such an outstanding Christian college with a tradition of academic excellence and commitment to Christ and His work.” The citation speech for the honorary doctorate, delivered by Asbury President Sandra Gray, outlined some of Howard Dayton’s life achievements and professional contributions and applauded his dedication and service to the body of Christ locally, nationally, and internationally.
