Leader's Guide - Chapter 1 (PDF) | |
Discover the secret of
joyful giving!
Most people can significantly give to the Kingdom of God, but they
don't know how or haven't been taught the awesome eternal benefits of
sowing into God's work on Earth. Author Randy Alcorn calls it a hidden
treasure, and we all must learn this life-changing principle to find that
hidden treasure.
The Treasure Principle Workshop, the first study in Crown's
new
“Workshop in a Box” series, teaches the joy of giving.
Some Bible studies use guilt as a motivation for giving; this one
doesn't. In a dramatic teaching style, this video workshop literally
inspires those who watch to learn the principles of giving in a
way that causes lasting change.
The Treasure Principle Workshop is a complete kit that includes the following:
1 - student workbook with audio CD (one workbook recommended per individual or couple)
1 - leader's guide with leader's resource CD (the resource CD contains many helpful items such as posters, tickets, bulletin inserts, and PowerPoint® presentations to enhance the study) and your choice of 1 - VHS video set (2 tapes) or 1 - DVD video set (2 discs).
Using the same teaching material, it can be conveniently taught in three main teaching formats (more detailed information is located in the “Teaching Formats” section below):
- All-Day Seminar (1 - six hour session)
- Weekend Workshop (2 - half day sessions)
- Six Week Bible Study (6 - one hour sessions)
No special leader training is required. Simply use the enclosed video and leader's guide that is included in the workshop, and you're ready to start!
Teaching Format Options
This workshop is easily adapted to a wide variety of presentation formats that are listed and described below. Regardless of the format you choose, we believe the material will make a powerful impact on your students.
- All-Day Seminar: Covers
the entire curriculum in a single day.
Can be used as an all-day Saturday seminar
for any adult group in a church, business,
neighborhood, or family. Also consider
an all-day seminar for an “off-campus”
retreat.
We have provided a PowerPoint® presentation if you prefer to do a live presentation without the use of the video series.
- Weekend Workshop: Covers
the curriculum in two three-hour sessions.
The two sessions could be scheduled on
two consecutive Saturday mornings, a Friday
evening/Saturday morning combination,
two nights of a single week, or one night
each week for two weeks.
- Six Week Bible Study: Covers
the curriculum in six or twelve sessions
depending on the needs of the group. The
sessions could be scheduled as weekly
or monthly small group meetings in homes,
businesses, or churches.
- Sunday School Class or Wednesday/Sunday
Evening Educational Elective: Covers the curriculum in twelve sessions.
The group can use two class periods to
view each DVD segment, discuss it, and
review the associated homework.
- Summary Presentation: a summary presentation of the material is provided if you need to give a quick overview of the study in 45-60 minutes.
Each “Session” is divided into 1-hour segments that have to be customized to which of the three optional formats is being utilized:
- Welcome (5-minutes)
- This session's video teaching (20-minutes to 30-minutes)
- This session's discussion time (15-minutes to 20-minutes)
- This session's wrap-up and next session's overview and homework assignment.
Recommended schedules are provided that thoroughly explain how to implement each of the optional teaching formats.
- How to start and end each session.
- How to best facilitate each session.
- When to use optional PowerPoint material.
- When to show accompanying video material.
- When to use discussion questions, etc.
- A “Vision and Additional Resources” page.
"As a percentage of household income, giving to religious centers was about 2.2 percent of gross income. Overall, only 4 percent of American households gave ten percent or more of their income to their churches."
