Web Site Privacy Policy
Crown Financial Ministries ("Crown" or "we") is committed to protecting the privacy of our user's personal information. This Privacy Policy (the "Policy") applies to the information that we collect from the primary Crown Financial Ministries Web site located at www.crown.org and from all other Web sites owned or operated by Crown Financial Ministries, including (but not limited to) www.crownmoneymap.org, www.moneylife.org, www.marriageandmoney.org, www.moneyandmarriage.org, www.conceptosfinancieros.org, www.larryburkett.org, www.crownignite.org, www.exponential07.org, www.tedandtony.org, and www.careerdirectonline.org. (This Policy uses the term "Site" to refer to all such Web sites.) Please note that this Privacy Policy applies only to these Sites owned or operated by Crown, and not to any Crown Web Partner sites (defined in Section 4 below) nor to any other Web sites to which a Crown Site may link. This Privacy Policy is effective March 15, 2007.
1. ACCEPTANCE OF PRIVACY POLICY AND AMENDMENTS
By providing information to and/or accessing or using any Crown Site, you are agreeing to this Privacy Policy. Any amendments to this Policy will be posted at this URL, www.crown.org/PrivacyPolicy/default.aspx, and will be effective when posted. When you continue to provide information to, to use, and/or otherwise to access any of the Crown Sites following the posting of any amendment, modification, or change, you are accepting this Privacy Policy as so amended, modified, or changed.
2. COLLECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
Personal Information. Crown does not collect any personally identifying information (or "Personal Information" for short) about you via the Crown Sites unless you voluntarily submit such information to Crown by, for example, registering for a Crown service, submitting your e-mail address to the Site to subscribe to a newsletter, purchasing an item from the Crown site, filling out a survey or registration form on the Site, etc. Types of Personal Information that may be collected may include (but is not limited to) the following:
- your name
- your address
- your e-mail address
- your telephone number
Account Information. In connection with your use of a Crown Site, you may also create or submit, and Crown may collect, information about you related to your access to and/or use of the Site. Such information may include (but is not limited to) the following:
- your user name for the Crown Site
- your password to access the Crown Site
If and when unique Account Information is combined with Personal Information about you, it is treated in the same way as Personal Information under this Privacy Policy.
Financial Information. Crown collects limited financial information from you via the Crown Sites only if you voluntarily submit such information to Crown by, for example, making a donation to or purchasing an item from the Crown Site. Such Financial Information may include (but is not limited to) your credit card information, billing information, electronic funds transfer ("EFT") information, etc. Financial Information will be retained and used only for the purpose or purposes for which such Financial Information was provided.
3. USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
In general, Crown will use the Personal Information that you provide to Crown via any of the Crown Sites for the purpose for which such information was provided. Crown may also use this Personal Information to deliver to you information about our ministry, including (but not limited to) information about new items available from Crown, information about events offered, sponsored, or endorsed by Crown, information about prayer needs or financial needs of Crown, and requests for charitable donations to Crown. Your Personal Information may also be used to contact you when necessary in Crown's judgment. You may opt-out of receiving future communications from Crown by following the instructions set forth in the Section 10 below.
4. ACCESS TO PERSONAL INFORMATION
Upon your request, Crown will provide you with access to the Personal Information, Account Information, and Financial Information that a Crown Site maintains about you. (Personal Information, Account Information, and Financial Information may be referred to collectively in this Privacy Policy as "User Information.") To obtain access to, correct, and/or update your User Information, please contact Crown Customer Support at customersupport@crown.org, providing appropriate verification of your identity (which may include, but is not limited to, your user name and password used to access your account), and providing or correcting the relevant information. If you have any questions about your User Information or how to access it, please contact Crown Customer Support.
Crown does not share your Personal Information with third parties except as explained in this Privacy Policy or except as you have otherwise agreed. These include:
With Crown Web Partners. Crown has entered into cooperative relationships with a number of like-minded ministries and organizations. Some users come to a Crown Site through a link from or in connection with a Crown agreement with another organization. These ministries and organizations are referred to in this Privacy Policy as Crown Web Partners. Consistent with Crown's agreement(s) with Crown Web Partners, Crown may provide to a Crown Web Partner a copy of your name, your e-mail address, your mailing address, and/or your phone number. Crown will NOT provide to Crown Web Partners any of your Financial Information or your Account Information (unless specifically authorized by you), but only the Personal Information listed in this paragraph and/or other User Information that you otherwise authorize Crown to share. Use of such information by the Crown Web Partner is governed by the Crown Web Partner's own privacy policy and by Crown's agreement with the Crown Web Partner.
As required by law. Crown will comply with applicable laws regarding your Personal Information and other User Information. Therefore, Crown may release your Personal Information and other User Information in response to a subpoena or as otherwise required by applicable laws, regulations, or rulings.
5. COLLECTION AND USE OF NON-PERSONAL INFORMATION
When you visit a Crown Site, the Site may collect Non-Personal Information about you in a number of ways, including tracking your activities through your IP address, computer settings, or most-recently visited URL. Such Non-Personal Information may also include (but is not limited to) your IP address, your browser type, your computer settings, the date/time of access to the Site, the most recently-visited URL, and similar information. Crown may also ask you to provide certain other Non-Personal Information about yourself, such as your household income, buying preferences, etc.
Non-Personal Information, such as demographic and profile data, is used to tailor your experience at the Crown Sites and to show you content Crown thinks you might be interested in. This Non-Personal Information may also be shared with others on an aggregate non-personal basis.
This Non-Personal Information is collected passively and normally is not combined with any Personal Information. If and when unique Non-Personal Information is combined with Personal Information about you, it is treated in the same way as such Personal Information under this Privacy Policy.
6. COOKIES
When you view a Crown Site, the Site might store some information on your computer. This information will be in the form of a "cookie" or similar file. Cookies are small pieces of information stored on your hard drive, not on the Crown Site. The Cookies used by the Crown Site do not spy on you or otherwise invade your privacy, and they cannot invade your hard drive and steal information. Rather, they help you navigate a Web site as easily as possible. The Crown Sites use cookies to deliver content specific to your interests and to prevent you from reentering all your registration data at each connection. The Crown Sites use cookies to store visitors' preferences, record session information, and record past activity at the Sites in order to provide better service when you return to the Sites.
7. CHILDREN
Crown Financial Ministries is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit religious, educational, and charitable organization. The Crown Sites are operated in furtherance of Crown's tax-exempt non-commercial purposes and are not targeted or aimed at children under age 13. The information that the Sites collect about users does not include any information about whether a user is under age 13. For these and other reasons, the Crown Sites are not subject to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 and related regulations. Crown strongly encourages parents to supervise their children's use of the Internet.
8. SECURITY
The Crown Sites use industry standard security measures to help protect the information under our control and help prevent its loss, misuse, or unauthorized alteration. While there is no such thing as "perfect security" on the Internet, Crown takes reasonable steps to protect your Personal Information. For example, those areas of our Sites that process your credit card information across the Internet use 128-bit secure socket layer (SSL) encryption to protect that data from interception during transmission. You can tell in most browsers whether you are in an SSL area by viewing the lock or key in the security report area of your browser window (often at the bottom or at the top) - an unlocked or broken key (depending on your browser) means you are in an unsecured area.
9. CORRECTING OR UPDATING INFORMATION
Crown allows you the option to correct, update, and/or modify User Information previously provided. This may be done by e-mailing the information to customersupport@crown.org.
Unfortunately, to the extent that such User Information is also stored in other databases, Crown cannot ensure that such corrections or deletions will reach the other databases. Crown will use reasonable efforts to ensure that your User Information is corrected in Crown's own records.
10. CHOICE; OPT OUT
You may opt out of receiving communications from Crown by e-mailing the information to customersupport@crown.org.
11. OTHER WEB SITES; LINKS
The Crown Sites contain links to other Web sites. Crown is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such Web sites.
12. REFUND AND RETURN POLICY
Crown's shipping, refund, and return policy for the Crown Sites may be viewed at crown.org/privacypolicy/customerservice.aspx.
