Crazy Money! What Do You Treasure?

It’s Crazy Money Day!

Authorities in Bulgaria conducted a raid on an international art trafficking ring. They found a previously undiscovered painting by Jackson Pollock. Experts think the painting could bring $54 million at auction. In the past, Pollock’s abstract paintings have sold at auction for $15 dollars all the way up to $61 million dollars. Those buyers thought they were purchasing a real treasure. Well, that’s crazy! Jesus said, “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.” (Matthew 13:44-46)

So what do you really treasure? In Philippians 3, the Apostle Paul said, “… whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What’s more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.” (Philippians 3:7-9) The way we steward our time and resources reveals what we really treasure. Time is short. Don’t waste what the Lord entrusts to you.
