Giving to Those in Need

Have you experienced the joy of giving to others in need? There’s nothing like it!

On a recent trip to Africa, I witnessed the joy of handicapped men and women who had been taught how to farm… Ostracized and without hope, they gained dignity in learning how to work for their food. Generosity of those who saw a need made it possible.

Now those  who support this ministry should share in this incredible joy. These men and women who were once considered outcasts, had begged for money their entire lives. Some even parked their wheelchairs in the middle of the highway hoping to stop truck drivers to give them some money for food. But today, because they were trained to farm and manage resources, they can provide for themselves and their families. It is a beautiful picture of the power of generosity to change lives.

I have met these families. They’re now teaching others in their village to farm and manage resources. The original generosity has multiplied beyond one village to three others. Many are picking up on the example of these handicapped folks who are showing that all things are possible with God.

In Matthew 25, Jesus taught that the righteous will be separated from the unrighteous, like a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

And we know the response of the King, Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’

So, if you desire to experience true blessing, pay attention to Proverbs 3, “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it.”
