Do you know Jonah’s financial mistake?
The book of Jonah tells how the prophet ran from God’s call on his life. He learned a lesson after being swallowed by the great fish, but a financial detail in chapter one is often overlooked. It says,“…Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord.” (Jonah 1:3)
You see, Jonah used his money in a manner that led him away from God’s purposes. In Ephesians, Paul said, “Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise…” (Ephesians 5:15) Never let money allow you to run from God’s call.
