David and Marilyn Butler have served in three churches while in Houston. After their own financial hardships that led them to the brink of bankruptcy, they were trained by Christian Financial Concepts (now Crown), led by Larry Burkett, as Teachers and National Referral Counselors in 1986. They have organized and led Financial Stewardship Ministry teams in all three churches to provide training, teaching and counseling individuals and couples in the area of stewardship and financial decision-making based on God’s Word.
“Our first involvement with Crown was life changing. The result is that we have moved from thinking we are dependent on our own abilities to the realization that we are completely dependent on the Lord. Understanding that He owns it all and we are stewards of His resources creates in us a desire to glorify God in all ways. The effect is generational. Our children are adults now with families of their own. They understand stewardship, delayed gratification, and contentment as they choose to live as God’s stewards, teaching these principles to their children.” Marilyn writes.
Members of Faith Bible Church in The Woodlands, Texas, David and Marilyn lead and train a 16-member Stewardship Ministry Team to serve in the church and surrounding areas.

ABOUT THE HOUSTON CROWN STEWARDSHIP CENTER
In 2019, Faith Bible Church became a Crown Partner launching the first Crown Stewardship Center in the USA. The Center’s purpose is to train and equip church Pastors and Lay leaders to establish Stewardship Ministries in their home church reaching many people for Christ, by advancing Redemptive Stewardship.
Training is offered in the following areas:
ONGOING
- Four-week series to adult ministry classes
- Stewardship small groups
- Individual and couples stewardship counseling
- Single women with children stewardship mentoring
- Benevolence Ministry recipient counseling: training them in stewardship, and holding them accountable for the use of the money entrusted to their care.
ANNUALLY
- Stewards Class: Faith and Finance
- Tax Preparation Day - for single members in need of tax preparation
