Materialism
This crisis should not rob us of living with purpose
Christ says that disciples only have two choices: to follow God or to follow money. We cannot serve both. We’ll be judged on the evidence of our spiritual and material lives more than anything else.
Christ devoted two-thirds of His parables to warning His disciples about materialism. Thinking that worldly possessions will satisfy us is a lie, and it distracts us from fully serving our true purpose: to love God and people.
We’re good at rationalizing excess, but a terminal illness, tragedy or economic crisis can change things instantly. So regardless if you have a lot or a little, love God and serve Him with all your heart.
