Giving: A Remedy for Temptation
One in five of us are spending more money than ever.
A recent survey revealed that a third of Americans made impulse purchases to cope with the stress of the coronavirus. Some went a thousand dollars or more over budget. Impulse buying grants a feeling of control and wellness amidst fear and uncertainty, but it also creates more stress.
When you’re tempted to buy something on an impulse, walk away. Get in the car or close your computer to gain perspective. Give yourself 24 hours to think and pray about it. Jesus said, “It’s more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35) So when tempted to buy something for yourself, choose to give something away instead.
