Crazy Money! Couple Win a House in Kansas

It’s Crazy Money Day!

Can you imagine being given a 3-bedroom Dutch colonial home for free? Now that sounds crazy, doesn’t it? Well, it happened to Eddie and Julie Flores. They were visiting Julie’s hometown inLincoln, Kansas, when her parents suggested they go see a house. Built in 1910, the 2000 square feet needed some TLC. The porch was falling apart, wood siding was chipping away, and squirrels ran in and out of a hole in the roof, but inside, a beautiful staircase and hardwood floors made it feel like home. The Lincoln Economic Development Foundation had one year to find an owner who would relocate the home within Lincoln and agree to live in it. Once home to one of the original mayors in town, the home had great historic value. Julie and Eddie, only 32 years old at the time, applied and they won! They purchased 3 acres from her dad and moved the house there. Their total budget is $250,000 for renovation and they’re committed to not go over.

Saving the home coincides with their desire to save the town. Since moving, their social, emotional, and economic situations have all improved. They’re close to family and living a slower pace of life with their 3 children. They say the move is one of the best things they’ve ever done. Now another move awaits all of us. Jesus said He’s gone to prepare a place for those of us who believe in Him. He’s coming back to take us to be there, and it’ll be better than any home we can imagine!
