Stewarding Love Through Finances – Part 1

Are you financially caring for your family?

Recent surveys reveal that America is trending a loss of values that once united us and an increase in the value placed on money. These are dangerous trends. Most anger, frustration, and family friction are caused directly or indirectly by money. We have access to Biblical financial principles, but do we implement them? Many do not either because of pride or ignorance. C.S. Lewis said, “Pride is spiritual cancer: it eats up the very possibility of love, or contentment, or even common sense.” If we humble ourselves before the Lord, He can use us to make a difference. God’s given us clear instructions on what we’re to do! The Bible says that God is love. He desires that we use what He provides, whether a lot or a little, to love Him and others. You shall love the Lord youGod with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” (Luke 10:27) This applies to every area of our lives including our finances.

Do you know anyone who models this well? If not, can I challenge you to become that person? One way you can make a difference is by financially caring for your family. 1 Timothy 5:8 says, Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” Culture is drifting away from the Lord, but we can come close to Him by caring for the needs of our families.
