Financial Challenges – Change Your Mindset

Are you overwhelmed with financial challenges?

It’s easy to fall into the dark hole of financial despair. I’ve been there early in my life, but believe me, there’s hope! It takes concentrated effort to renew your mind and a plan to fix your financial problems. Step by step you can conquer these challenges. Today I’ll address changing your mindset. Romans 8:5-6 says, “Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.”

Changing what we think about money impacts our behavior. Consider the grueling workouts athletes endure when training for competition. They make sacrifices and prioritize this area of their lives. Believers are called to train our minds so we can respond with wisdom and discernment. Godly stewardship requires mental prowess. Through repeated practice, our trained behavior becomes second nature. We bear fruit when we abide in Christ. It’s achieved by devoting time to regular worship and fellowship with other believers, through prayer and the reading of God’s Word. When we meditate on it, memorize it, and pray it, we’ll recognize error and flee temptation. Setting our “minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth” (Colossians 3:2) shuts out the negative influences of the world that distract us from walking and abiding with Christ.
