Crazy Money! $2 Billion Cruise Ship

It’s Crazy Money Day! 

The world’s largest cruise ship is scheduled to set sail this year. It’s the size of 5 Titanics: nearly a quarter of a mile long and over 250,000 tons. It will accommodate over 8,000 passengers and workers. CEO Michael Bayley says the vessel promises to be “the ultimate family vacation.” It has 8 “neighborhoods”, 20 decks, 7 swimming pools, and the largest waterpark at sea. Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas is estimated to have cost around $2 billion. It’s already earned the title of ‘best-selling product’ in the company’s 53-year history based on demand and booking revenue. It’s crazy!

We are easily impressed, but Jesus told us to guard our hearts, for the things of this world are passing away. Enjoy them – but don’t put your identity or hope in them. Moses taught the Israelites an important lesson that we must remember. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” (Deuteronomy 6:5-9) In other words – don’t forget them. That way nothing gets between you and God: no person, no job, and no impressive cruise liner!
