Yard Sales to the Rescue

Are you on a tight budget?

Yard, garage, and estate sales are great places to find deals. Before heading out, check out the items on Facebook Marketplace, set a budget, make a list, and plan your route. Do your homework before leaving. Study prices and read reviews, especially for nursery items and car seats. When you arrive, Google or check eBay prices and ensure items have not been recalled. Make sure all parts are included. Don’t be afraid to negotiate prices. When finding many items, ask the homeowner if you can start a pile for them to watch for you. Then offer a price for the whole lot, or ask what they’ll take for it. Don’t hesitate to ask if they have other items to sell. My son hauled home large pots for his patio just by asking if more were available. Sales happen when people move, empty a parent’s home, or are simply getting rid of “stuff” that can be a shopper’s paradise!

You can find quality household items, fashion, and more. Books, puzzles, art supplies, and board games in excellent condition can be bought now, and given later. That goes for many items you’ll find. Prepare to get dirty as you may need to dig through items. Put hand sanitizer and wipes in your car along with enough cash for the day. Just make sure you buy quality and items that you’ll actually use. My wife came home with a bass drum for our boys one day, and I couldn’t wait to donate that one!
