Step Back From The Financial Cliff
Are you tired of living on the financial edge?
I once heard that financial stress is like living on the edge of a cliff. There’s great uncertainty in not knowing if you’ll fall over and be destroyed. Fear can grip the heart of anyone living from paycheck to paycheck or juggling the stress of debt that’s spiraling out of control. Losing a job with no financial margin to survive between jobs is paralyzing. These scenarios are forms of poverty. The bondage prevents you from achieving your God-given purpose. Proverbs 28:19 says, “Whoever works his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows worthless pursuits will have plenty of poverty.” Solomon first says, work your land and focus on what will produce income. Then, stop doing whatever wastes your time.
Have you analyzed your own life? Where do you need to focus on earning income? Once you know, get to work on doing that job well. Next, consider what worthless endeavors are eating up your time. It could be a dreamy idea of making easy money in a get-rich-quick scheme. Or, maybe you’re preoccupied with a lifestyle of leisure and entertainment. If you’re living on the financial edge, stop doing those things that waste time. 30 years ago, I decided to stop watching TV. I’ve read hundreds of books since then and written a few of my own! No amount of entertainment could provide the benefit from the reading that I’ve been able to do. I hope you’ll take Proverbs 28:19 to heart today and move off that financial cliff!
