Expectations
by Larry Burkett
Most of us suffer from unrealistic expectations of what God promised. In Christians it is sometimes worse, because we fear that others will think of us as being less spiritual.
We actually have come full circle from the Christians of the first and second century who believed that problems were the evidence of spiritual depth.
Actually neither extreme is scripturally correct, but the case for Christians undergoing trials is more scriptural.
The trials James is addressing in today’s Scripture verse are a consequence of serving God without compromise. However, most of our current problems are the result of violating biblical principles.
If we follow the teachings of God’s Word, we will have realistic expectations of what He has promised. There’s a promise in His Word for every circumstance or happening in our lives. All you have to do is to learn those verses and apply them to your life.
