“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”

You Must Believe
by Larry Burkett
We must believe God in order to receive His best. As our Scripture verse for today says, it is impossible to please Him unless we have faith—unless we really believe what He says in His Word and act accordingly.
Most Christians say they believe God, but their lives don’t show it. They can exercise discipline in their lives, but they don’t exercise faith. They don’t step out beyond their own boundaries.
The Pharisees were very spiritual men from outward appearances: They tithed, fasted, and prayed, but it was always with a self-motivated attitude. They tithed but expected to get money back. They fasted but wanted everyone to know it, so they made a show of looking very pitiful. That is exercising discipline—not faith.
Luke 18:1 says to pray and not to lose heart. You have to believe that God hears you. A lack of faith keeps the majority of Christians from ever receiving what God promised them.
Envision God sitting on the throne in Heaven and Jesus sitting at His right hand. They are looking down on you. God says, “I want to bless that person but she doesn’t act like she believes my Word. She never gives more than she thinks she can afford. She never helps unless she thinks she can get something in return. Doesn’t she know that I can bless her abundantly if she will only trust in me?”
God does want to bless us. We are His children and He loves us. He can’t bless us unless we are able to come to Him unreservedly and believe His Word and His promises.
