Put Faith to Work
by Larry Burkett
Many Christians don’t like to hear that they must put faith to work. I’ve even heard the comment, “I thought faith was a free gift from God.” No, grace—unmerited favor—is a free gift of God. Faith requires action.
Hebrews also says that faith is the assurance of things hoped for. If you already have it, you don’t need faith to receive it. It’s putting something to work that says, “I believe God’s plan, and I’m going to exercise God’s plan.”
Our responsibility is to put faith to work. Unless you live by the principles in God’s Word, He can’t bless you. He is bound by the same principles we are.
If we really trust God’s Word, we will step out in faith. Once we add action to our faith, then things will begin to change, but we do have to be “doers” as well as “hearers.”
Think of something you have been praying about but you have never applied the corresponding actions. Take that first step. Add actions to your faith.
