Excellence at Work
How are you stewarding your time at work?
Work wasn’t intended to be drudgery, but an essential part of God’s design for us from the very beginning. The Bible tells us in Genesis 2:15 that The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and keep it.
Work is one of the primary ways we experience purpose, meaning, and joy. It allows for self-expression, the potential to be used for great causes to serve the needs of the world and to bring glory to God.
Christians should be the most desired of all employees or employers in the world because we know the dignity of hard work. We should be motivated to do our best knowing we represent our Lord wherever our jobs take us.
Work is meant to reflect the truths we believe to a watching world; a daily opportunity to share God’s goodness whether working at home, on an assembly line, in the corporate world or mission field.
Consider the words of Solomon: Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank. (Proverbs 22:29)
That’s because excellent work gets noticed! Doing your best with joy is a blessing to employers and an example to others.
Excellence demands that we fine-tune our skills and stay current with the times. This may require classes or online studies.
Excellence focuses on the task at hand, guarding against the distraction of phones, computers, or certain people. It’s the stewarding of each hour to glorify God at your place of work.
