“A wife of noble character is her husband’s crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones”

A Priceless Crown
by Chuck Bentley
In the Northern Hemisphere, the winter solstice occurs on either December 21 or 22. The winter solstice marks the shortest day and the longest night of the year.
Do you want to know why I remember this? It is also the day of my wedding anniversary. I did not intentionally choose this day, but it marks a turning point in the change of seasons and a remarkable change in my life as well.
On December 22, 1978, Ann and I exchanged our vows before God to become man and wife. From the beginning, I loved and cherished her. However, through the years, I have grown to also truly admire her for her noble character.
There is not a single person who has had greater influence on my relationship with Jesus Christ than my beloved wife. As Solomon noted here, a wife of strong character is as precious as the crown of a king.
This asset is deemed as priceless in Proverbs 31:10-11: “A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value” (NIV).
Men, let us thank God for these “priceless crowns” who adorn our heads.
