GIF God’s Way: Optional or Mandatory?
“Become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life.”
(Philippians 2:15-16 NIV)
God’s Way: Optional or Mandatory?
by Larry Burkett
It seems abundantly clear from God’s Word that when we accept Christ as our Lord we are to live by a much higher standard than the rest of the world—not because as Christians we are supposed to be pious or super spiritual but simply because we are to be normal.
It is God’s way that is normal and the world’s way that is abnormal—not the other way around, as some would think.
We are to be lights in a dark world, for the express purpose of leading others to a saving knowledge of Jesus.
What we say is not enough. God requires that we “show and tell.” When others observe our attitudes and our behavior, they will either see Christ in us or they won’t. It is as clear as that.
True believers possess a serenity and joy that comes from knowing Christ and living for Him. And true believers set standards for their lives that are in tune with the Word of God.
“As for me, I shall walk in my integrity; redeem me, and be gracious to me. My foot stands on a level place” (Psalm 26:11-12).
