Godly Inheritance
by Larry Burkett
The most important inheritance we can offer our children is a Christian influence that leads to salvation. We think of an inheritance coming after someone’s death, but godly inheritance—training in Christian living—cannot be left until then.
Neither should we neglect training our spouses and our children in the use of handling the inheritance. I challenge every Christian to develop a godly approach to inheritance, beginning right now. Establish a few fundamental absolutes about your inheritance.
Knowing how to manage money is basic in preparing for the future. Teaching your children to give to God’s work out of their earnings is the most essential step in molding them into good money managers and is the best inheritance you can give them.
God promises wisdom to those who trust Him.
“The beginning of wisdom is: acquire wisdom; and with all your acquiring, get understanding. Prize her [wisdom], and she will exalt you; she will honor you if you embrace her” (Proverbs 4:7-8).
