“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will hold to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”

Making the Grade

Since finances is a topic frequently discussed in the New Testament, it’s obvious that God can and will use that area to test our obedience to Him.
In our society we have a value-rating system that is based on material worth. Sadly, that’s just as true within Christianity as it is in the unbelieving world.
Fortunately, God’s value system is based on spiritual worth and is measured by our willingness to accept His direction. This struggle between materialism and spirituality is addressed directly by the Lord in today’s Scripture verse.
God desires that we use financial difficulties as an opportunity to trust Him more fully and to demonstrate to others that we are God’s servants.
As was said of Job, “Through all this Job did not sin nor did he blame God” (Job 1:22).
Have you ever blamed God for your problems? Confess it to Him and ask for His forgiveness.
