Manage Well
by Chuck Bentley
With December just around the corner, there’s a resolution for the coming year that I hope you’ll consider.
It’s summed up in two words: manage well. Here are some tips to help you be successful.
First, ask God for self-control, which is produced as a result of abiding in the Spirit.
Second, resolve to become very disciplined. Consider establishing automated transfers each pay period for a goal that is important to your financial health. Use the money only for what you resolved to do.
Third, ask your spouse or a close friend to share your resolve to manage well, and encourage each other on a frequent basis. When someone joins you to accomplish a similar goal, it can add joy to the journey.
Fourth, take no shortcuts. We’d all like to believe that there’s a simple, easy formula that will bring positive results with very little effort. But every great accomplishment requires great commitment.
All of these steps involve discipline, but as Solomon noted, “People who accept disciplineare on the pathway to life” (Proverbs 10:17 NLT). And, with some early success, you might continue this resolution for the rest of your life.
