“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. . . . You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

New Year’s Commitment
by Larry Burkett
As the new year opens, I’d like to challenge you to make one commitment (you’ll notice I didn’t say resolution). I believe the most important issue in this New Year is to set priorities for your life. It is imperative that you stay focused on the things that are really important.
We find out what is important by reading God’s Word. In Matthew, when someone asked Jesus, “Which is the great commandment in the Law?” Jesus answered with what is in our Scripture passage for today. Read that again.
What does that have to do with setting priorities? Those are the priorities: love God and love people. If you do, everything else will fall into place.
Decide today what your priorities will be for the coming year, write them down, and ask for God’s help in setting those priorities in your everyday life this year.
