Trusting Totally
by Larry Burkett
If I could wake up tomorrow, having gained one ability I don’t have, I would want it to be the ability to absolutely trust God in everything I do—to have no doubts and no fears.
I believe there have been people in the past who had that ability and I admire them greatly. (The apostle Paul is one great example.)
From a human perspective, I could be perfectly content if I had really turned everything over to God and was trusting in Him completely.
My personality is such that I think too much sometimes. Then I remember the passage from God’s Word in which Jesus asked, “Why do you worry so much? No matter how much you worry, you can’t add even a moment to your life. Each day has enough trouble of its own; therefore, trust in Me” (paraphrased from Matthew 6:19-34).
How would you measure the amount of trust you have in God? Is it total, complete, unconditional, or is it limited by your circumstances?
God’s Word says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
