Where Am I?

It’s always good to have some standard of measure to compare where we are with where God wants us to be.
The evidence in God’s Word is clear and simple. All we have to do is eliminate our ego and pride and consistently put the needs of others before our own; then we’ll be on the right track. Difficult? No, impossible. But in Romans the apostle Paul gives us God’s solution: let go and trust God.
Christ is the most exalted being in the eternal kingdom of God. Even though this is true, He assumed the lowliest, most humbling position possible during His life. Perhaps to us this will mean giving up pride and ego and giving of ourselves to others, as Christ did when He washed the disciples’ feet.
It is a contrast in human logic that by giving up something we can receive even more. But Christ taught this principle frequently; it’s called sowing and reaping. It’s our choice to take what we want now or store it and receive it in God’s eternal kingdom.
God’s Word tells us that an evidence of our commitment to His way will be shown in our concern for others.
As we start each day we have a choice: follow God or follow the world. If we totally follow God it may be costly. We may be buffeted by Satan as never before, but on the sole authority of God’s Word we can clearly know that our priorities are in order.
“Pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart” (2 Timothy 2:22).
