GIF Your Next Job
“Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”
(John 6:27 NIV).
Your Next Job
by Chuck Bentley
Do you have an idea of what your next job might be like? Are you imagining something that will lead you to retirement or to a life of comfort? Those things may be appealing, but do they fulfill God’s purpose for your life?
Is that where God wants you to represent Him, serve Him, and take care of your family? That’s an important question, because you may not have as much time as you think. God wants us to fulfill His plans with the resources He’s given us.
If you’re between jobs or about to search for a new job, now could be a great time to open yourself to however God wants to use you—even in a different field. It’s a four-step process.
- Ask God to direct you and put you where He wants you to be. Open your heart to Him, actively pray, and ask Him to counsel you as you read His Word.
- Don’t presume upon God. You need to humble yourself and be open to where, how, and when He directs.
- More isn’t always better or God’s will. Be open to options and alternatives to your own preferences.
- Act on the God-given dreams and desires of your heart. When you hear God calling you to do something, obey.
I have found that if His will is still not clear, a time of private prayer and fasting is very beneficial.
