A Less Stressful Approach to Finances
The world is in turmoil.
Are you experiencing new levels of insecurity? Have the things you placed your confidence in disappointed you? God tells us in Psalm 32:8 that He’s prepared to instruct us and teach us the way that we should go. The world may convince you that your purpose, goals, and significance should be wrapped up in material things. The message is simple: make as much as you can, as quickly as you can, to retire as soon as you can, to enjoy a life of leisure as long as you can. In addition, the world deceptively teaches that if you have enough money, you can live free of fear and anxiety. In other words, place your faith and security in your net worth, your assets, and your ability to generate income.
But true joy and peace comes from accepting God’s lordship over all things, including our money, managing the resources He entrusts to us according to His financial principles, and being a generous giver. When you adopt this pattern of thinking, you’re no longer pressured from within to meet the world’s demands. Instead, you begin to define success by whether or not you’re faithful with what you have, regardless of the amount. God doesn’t measure success by worldly achievements and accumulation. He knows that if you’re faithful with little, He can trust you with much. So, find peace in Psalm 32:8, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.”
