Crazy Money Day! The 2025 Corvette ZR1

It’s Crazy Money Day!

A friend once demonstrated the acceleration power of his Tesla. I buckled up and leaned against the headrest as he instructed and then he took off. By the time he slowed down, I was so nauseated, I thought I was going to be sick. I recalled that memory when reading about the 2025 Corvette ZR1. Pressroom reports that it has the most powerful 8-cylinder engine produced in America from any auto manufacturer. Its specs and design are expected to challenge the world’s best supercars. The engine produces over 1,000 horsepower. Top speed is estimated to be over 215 mph. Scott Bell, VP of Chevrolet, says, “The Corvette is about pushing the envelope with raw power and cutting-edge innovation. From the original Stingray, the Corvette family continues to elevate with each new iteration – and challenges the best in the world.” Production is set to begin in 2025. Car and Driver estimates prices could exceed $200,000. That’s crazy!

Do we really need to be able to go 215 miles an hour? Let’s not covet what’s beyond our ability to buy. Even if we have the money, we should pause and consider whether purchases like this reflect wise stewardship. Jesus said, “…lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:19-21)
