Crazy Money! Doctor Set a Financial Finish Line
It’s Crazy Money Day!
Kealan Hobelman’s faith became a priority during college. A number of his friends entered vocational ministry. He struggled with the fact that he would earn significantly more money than them. He was later challenged by people who lived radically generous lives. Could God be calling him to follow in their footsteps? After graduation, he married Alison. They were comfortable with their double income and simple lifestyle. It allowed them to tithe and support other missionaries. Then he was led to med school in Philadelphia, and they realized loans might be necessary. Deciding to trust God, they asked Him to provide. They knew they were asking a lot, but He answered in miraculous ways.
Graduating med school without student loans, Kealan began a paid residency. He and Alison wanted to avoid a rollercoaster lifestyle. They were already happy and wanted to protect themselves with some sort of a guardrail. They were so young, yet so spiritually mature! For, they focused on stewarding everything for the Lord! They understood that everything they had was provided by God. It was a privilege and responsibility to use it wisely. So, in 2020, they set a “financial finish line” of living in the 50th percentile of all Americans. This was lower than their combined income which allowed them to give even more. Today, Kealan’s an ENT surgeon. He and his brother, Cody, invest in housing for immigrants and donate their profits. They also host the Finish Line Podcast. Well done guys!
