It’s Crazy Money Day!

Over 30 years ago, a man stole the identity of a U.S. citizen. In 1992, he began collecting Social Security benefits, received a California driver’s license, and lived in the United States without citizenship. In 2022, his cover was blown upon driving into California from Mexico with 3 illegals in his car. He was charged under the name of the citizen whose identity he stole. Further investigation revealed who he really was. The man’s victims include the one whose identity was stolen, the court system, the federal government, and the Social Security Administration. The investigation revealed that he stole more than $80,000 of Supplemental Security Income benefits. He was ordered to pay restitution and may be deported after serving his sentence.

Now Proverbs 10:9 is applicable here: “Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out.” Integrity protects you and honors God. If you’ve compromised the truth, confess it to the Lord. Seek to make things right with those you’ve wronged. Ask God for words to speak and the humility to accept the outcome. Then, go without expectations, confess your sin, and seek forgiveness. Since you’ve broken trust, it may take time for wounds to heal, but your conscience will be clear before God and man.
