Crazy Money! Luxury Can’t Satisfy
It’s Crazy Money Day!
Luxury ski equipment and snow apparel were seen across the country this year. Magazines and social media have promoted them. Perhaps you’ve seen the $1600 ski sneakers. That’s a tennis shoe with spikes that attach with a harness. How about $5,000 snowboards? Or, $500 faux fur moon boots, $500 goggles, or a $500 ski mask that’s hand-knit in Italy?
Many mega-wealthy ignore price tags. Others try to keep up with fashion trends to be accepted or admired. They stretch themselves and buy status to feel good about themselves and to fit in with their crowd. That feeling doesn’t last because things can never fill the void that only Christ can. For many, luxury items are Band-Aids covering up personal wounds, insecurities, and fears. Stretching financially to buy them creates more stress that magnifies our problems. If Christ is your Lord and Savior, then He sees you dressed in robes of righteousness. The prophet Isaiah proclaimed in chapter 61 verse 10: “I will greatly rejoice in the Lord; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness,” Imagine yourself dressed in priceless robes paid for by Christ at the cross. No luxury clothing brand could ever compare. So, rejoice, praise God, and thank Him for all you have. Free yourself from chasing expensive fashion trends.
