Discipline In Just One Thing
One discipline leads to many more.
Back in high school, I had a cousin who was very disciplined about working out. If he had a goal to do 20 push-ups a day, he did it without fail. I was impacted by his ability to stay on track day after day after day. When asked how he managed to do it, he told me this: being disciplined in one area of life helped him be more disciplined in EVERY area of his life. Simple but profound. Now I know that the opposite is true. When I don’t have at least one area where I maintain self-discipline, every area of my life seems to be a struggle. Proverbs 15:32 in The New Living Translation reads, “If you reject discipline, you only harm yourself;”
You see discipline is forward-looking. It prepares you for what’s to come. Can I challenge you to pick one area of your finances where you’ll practice self-discipline this entire year? Whether it’s working, giving, saving, spending, or investing, choose one area that needs your attention. Write down your daily, weekly, or monthly goal and commit to do it no matter what. That small step in exercising daily discipline may be the biggest decision you make all year! Let me know how you’re doing along the way. We’ll be here to help because we want you to experience true financial freedom! I’ve seen God liberate thousands of people just like you – no matter what challenge you may be facing. The Lord will be with you and give you the strength for each new day.
