Do Not Worry

Do you struggle with worry, anxiety, and fear?

Jesus told us not to worry about life – what we’ll eat or what we’ll wear. It doesn’t add a single hour to our life and it robs us of precious time and energy! My Dad once told me, “Worry is like sitting in a rocking chair, you expend energy but you don’t get anywhere.” Jesus wants us to depend on our heavenly Father – not the world, not easy credit, not even our own strength. That means we must acknowledge HIM as our Provider – the one who knows our every need. When we get out ahead of Him and we try to do it ourselves, we often end up with serious financial problems. “Consider the birds of the air; they don’t sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” (Matthew 6:26) “And, look how the flowers of the field grow. They don’t labor or spin. Not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If God clothes the grass of the field…will he not much more clothe you—oh you of little faith?” (Matthew 6:28-30)

When we take our needs before the Father, we have the incredible promise of experiencing His provision. He has a storehouse of provisions, and if we’re patient enough, He’ll give us exactly what we need! So, truly do not worry! “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (Matthew 6:34)
