Get Fit Without Breaking Your Budget – Part 2

Want to get in shape?

You can get fit without breaking your budget. Ask friends and neighbors where they go to the gym. Compare prices and read reviews online. Narrow down your choices. Then prepare questions and tour the gyms. Consider distance and traffic from home or work and times you want to exercise. Ask for a non-commitment trial. Month-to-month plans allow you to leave without extra fees but can cost more. A contract’s usually a better deal – unless you stop going. Read the fine print! Ask for military, student, or senior citizen discounts. Will they meet competitor prices? If you join and a membership promo is later offered, ask the gym to give you that reduced rate.

Never sign up for something you can’t afford. You can get in shape without a gym membership. Follow a diet plan, and workout regimen, and find people to hold you accountable. You’ll save money by cutting out fast food. Buy or borrow some basic equipment and find YouTube workouts that you like. Set some specific, attainable goals and post them where you’ll see them daily. Keep track of your diet and exercise. Form a group to encourage one another – as our Crown staff has done.  Twelve of us have openly committed to a goal that we will each attempt to accomplish before the end of 2024. Join us this year in taking fitness seriously, but remember what Paul told Timothy, “… train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” (1 Timothy 4:8)
