Give From Your Storage Unit
Here’s a creative gift idea!
There are more than 52,000 storage facilities in the U.S. To put that in perspective, it’s approximately the same total number of Starbucks, McDonald’s, Dunkin’ Donuts, Pizza Huts, and Wendy’s put together! Now there are several logical reasons to rent a storage unit, but I want to address one reason in particular. That’s the fact that some people just have too much stuff. They may have inherited things and don’t have time to go through it, or the memories are too painful, but someone elsecould benefit from many of those items. Now could be the perfect time to consider giving from your storage unit.
The top items people store are furniture, clothing, home appliances, and equipment. Next come sporting items and hobby gear followed by business items, vehicles, RV’s, and boats. Maybe you’ve long forgotten what you have in storage or even what you’re paying every month to keep it there! Out of sight/out of mind can be costly. Think about what you have in storage and then consider the needs and desires of your family and friends. Would they appreciate any of it? How about single moms, refugees, or families of those in prison who live in your community? Many hard-working people have no room in their budget to buy what you may have stored. Churches know those in need. Or donation centers can be scheduled to pick things up. Jesus said, “It’s more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35) Now that’s so true, but we have to experience it to understand what He meant. We’re blessed so we can bless others, and the monthly rent on a storage unit can often be stewarded much more effectively.
