Giving is a Privilege

Do you enjoy giving?

Giving’s not a money issue – it’s actually a heart issue. In Proverbs 3, we’re told to “Honor the Lord with (our) wealth and with the first fruits of all (our) produce…” (Proverbs 3:9) We honor God by surrendering all that we have and offering Him control. After all, He is the Owner and Provider of it. Letting go is a tangible way of saying, “God, you and your kingdom are my most important financial priority!” The amount we give is our testimony of faith in Him. It demonstrates that we trust Him as our true provider. Giving is a privilege made possible by applying His financial principles.

In 2 Corinthians 9, the Apostle Paul said giving maximizes joy, helps others, and brings honor, thanksgiving, and glory to God. His words are applicable today. Listen carefully: You’ll be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people, but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.” (2 Corinthians 9:11-13) The Kingdom of God is dependent on the generosity of believers. Maximize your joy and thanksgiving while helping others by becoming a generous giver today.
