God’s Investment Managers
Would you hire an investment manager who is likely to lose all of your money? Uh…no!
Warren Buffett, Benjamin Graham, Sir John Templeton, T. Rowe Price, Peter Lynch, are some of the greats who have managed money well – very well.
And, yet each and every one of us is like a wealth manager that God has entrusted with His money. But many manage God’s money like it belongs to them and use it like it’s really none of His business. That’s not the kind of money manager that you would hire…right?
Faithful stewardship honors God and seeks to obey His ways in all financial decisions. That requires renewing our minds with truth and applying His principles to every area of our finances: budgeting, saving, debt, investing, and giving!
Stewardship means humbly taking instructions from God – not the world – and applying them to everyday life. That will cause some of our decisions to run contrary to what the world tells us. But, if we truly trust His Word, then we can walk in faith and eager anticipation of what He can do in and through us.
It requires discipline, self-control and confidence in our Provider! His Word never changes and we can trust His counsel in every season of life. Disobedience in the area of finances can spell disaster. So, I encourage you to pray with the Psalmist:
“Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name.”
A fear or awe of God gives us the desire to obey. So, let us take every thought captive when managing God’s money. “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
