Honor Christmas in Your Heart and Keep it All Year
It’s Crazy Money Day!
In Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, Scrooge is transformed from a stingy old man to a generous new man. He went from always muttering, “Bah Humbug” to “I will honor Christmas in my heart and try to keep it all the year.” Though Christmas is now behind us and a new year lies ahead, wouldn’t it be wonderful to keep it in our heart all year long? Just think about the wonder of Christ’s birth. The grace, mercy, and loving kindness that He extends to us – the presence of the Holy Spirit and the promise of eternal life! That’s why we cannot allow the pain in this world to overshadow the glory of God. He is our peace, our comfort, and our hope when things look dismal.
The prophet Jeremiah penned Lamentations. Despite his affliction and sorrow, he remembered the wonders of God and proclaimed in chapter 3:
“But this I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“therefore I will hope in him.”
Perhaps your finances are so bad that you’re tempted to say, “Bah Humbug!” Well God knows your situation. Confess any mistakes you’ve made, turn from them, and walk in His Truth. Ask Him for the wisdom, guidance, and provision that you need. You can honor Christmas in your heart and keep it all the year.
