Loving Christ Changes Our Choices

Have you noticed that a walk with Christ produces behavior that doesn’t make sense to the world?

Christians are called to be different and the choices we make are the result of a commitment to God’s Word, flowing from hearts of loving obedience. And that applies to all areas – especially our finances!

We must resolve to follow the financial principles God gives us in Scripture. Take giving for example –  If we share what He provides, we do so because His Word says we’re to help others. We should give without expectation of reward, but with a humble desire to obey God and share with those in need.

This is His way of letting us share in His work. Whoever gives willingly receives a blessing that comes only with true love – that is –  a greater love for our Lord than for money.

In First John 1 it says, “By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.”

Give… Even if you don’t feel like you have an abundance! Give the amount, large or small, that God provides when you willingly sacrifice your wants to help others in need.

Sacrifice is an essential attitude for all believers. You begin by Asking God to reveal to you the needs  of someone that He places on your heart. Then, follow his lead by giving. It is then that you will discover the joy of giving.

Go contrary to the world, as opposed to always being generous with ourselves, become generous towards God and others. Make it a habit to think about giving first to others and trusting God to provide for your needs.  God so loved us that He gave His only son – imagine that level of sacrifice and now do unto others as God did for you.
