New Year Financial Tip: Stop Wasting Time

Want some financial tips for the new year?

To start this year on solid financial footing, simply stop wasting time. I know it sounds obvious, but we all do things that are unproductive. Here are a few things that may be time wasters for you: watching lots of TV, scrolling through social media, or checking them frequently to see if you have any new likes. How about reading books that have no real value? Take an inventory of just one thing in your life that you know is a huge time waster. Now imagine replacing that with something far more productive.

In Ephesians 4:28, Paul says, Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.” This verse outlines what to stop doing, what to start doing, and what to do once you begin to benefit from this strategy. Suppose you replace just one major time-waster with something that’s far more productive. You could study for an exam or professional certification, take on an extra job, or start a home-based business. Most of our greatest accomplishments in life are as a result of small steps combined with perseverance. Simply start doing a little each day and then don’t quit. Don’t imagine where that will lead in just 6 weeks, but in 3 years from now. Every hour formerly wasted can be converted into productive time. You’ll be shocked at what an impact stewarding time well can have on your future! You can get out of debt, have more money in savings, or give more to God’s work.
