New Year Tip – Give Thanks and Save a Thousand Dollars
Do you want a thousand dollars for your Christmas budget this year?
You can have $1000 to spend on Christmas this year by saving just $3 a day – or $21 every week. You can experience a debt-free holiday by disciplining yourself now. It’ll free you to focus on Christ and His gift to each of us! $1000 might cover your entire budget, 0r God might prompt you to use it to buy for others in need, to support a ministry, or to fund someone’s mission trip. Perhaps you can fund an emergency account, but you must start now. Ask God to show you where to make spending cuts and simple sacrifices. Ask Him to give you self-control in your spending, as well as gratitude and contentment with what you already have.
Rather than giving you some money-saving tips, I want you to think about the following: When tempted to spend money, immediately ask yourself: “Is this a need or a want? Can it wait? Can I borrow it? Do I have something that will be a good substitute?” Far too often we mindlessly spend money because we can. Easy credit has wrecked our satisfaction with less, and unfortunately, more often brings us stress and misery.
So, this year, why not start each day by being thankful for what you have now? When our boys were young, I often woke them up proclaiming: “This is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it!” So let’s rejoice as we save a thousand dollars with the Lord’s help this year.
