Prepare for Hard Times – Abide in Christ
Are you prepared for hard times?
We have an enemy who wants to propel us into chaos and utter darkness. If Christians aren’t strong enough, a major crisis could collapse us into a modern Dark Age where the church is weak and void of salt. However, if we’re prepared, Christians can shine the brightest in the darkness. Christians will either have a survivalist mentality or a sacrificing mentality. In a crisis, we’ll know the wheat from the chaff, the sheep from the goats. The goats will go into survival mode; the sheep will go into self-sacrificing mode. The faithful believer will say, “Everything I have belongs to God. Everything I’ve prepared for is to benefit those that God’s called me to serve.” We’re not to be little house plants that are comfortable yet unprepared for a storm. We’re to be like strong trees planted by streams of water yielding fruit in its season and leaves that won’t wither. Storms will come; but if we trust and abide in Christ, our roots will grow deep, and our branches strong.
Psalm 1 says our delight is to be in the law of the Lord, and we’re to meditate on it day and night. That’s how the truth gets embedded in our hearts. From there it’s exercised and lived out serving others. When the survivalist mentality grows exponentially in the culture, the love and sacrificing mentality must increase among Christians. If we live God’s way, this will be our finest hour! “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13)
