Teaching Kids to Budget

Ever tried to teach your children how to budget? It can convict you of your own spending!!

My wife and I try to always connect the biblical and practical lessons together when teaching our sons how to manage money.

Luke 16:10 was our budgeting verse  – “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.”

Our boys each had a binder with clear envelopes which divided their money from any source into giving, saving, and spending. We taught them to give at least ten percent, save fifty, and spend the balance.

It was a basic system, but it taught them how to budget – and  they’ve each managed very well.
