Tomorrow Is Valentine’s Day
Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day!
Do you feel pressured by the world to lavish the love of your life with flowers, candy, and jewelry? Well, I can save you some money with today’s tip! Simply be thoughtful in whatever gift you choose. Perhaps the most loving thing you can do this year is to forgive one another of financial mistakes. Then, set goals and resolve to stay on a budget! Express this desire in a handmade card. A godly man puts his wife and family before himself. Ephesians 5 teaches that men are to love their wives as Christ loves the church. That means being willing to sacrifice, cherish, and care for them. That kind of love forgives and forgets past wrongs. I Peter 3 explains how and why a woman is to submit to her husband. She allows him to lead the home demonstrating her patience, love, and trust in him. Try to see the best in one another. If you know each other’s love language then find a way to express that! Or, buy Gary Chapman’s Love Language devotional and read through it together this year. Another good one is Tim and Kathy Keller’s The Meaning of Marriage book. Or read the Crown daily devotional or order our program called Money Dates. It offers Biblical steps to get on the same page.
This Valentine’s Day, you could recommend that you read through the Bible together. Investing time in God’s Word will do so much more for your relationship than flowers and candy. Whatever you do, make a plan to spend quality time throughout the year. Aim to build your relationship on a strong, biblical foundation.
