Vacation Savings Tips
Do you have vacation plans? Well I have some money saving tips.
According to CreditDonkey.com, the average person spends around $1,200 on vacation per year – that would include transportation, lodging, food, and entertainment.
But you can cut those costs dramatically by planning ahead. Drive instead of fly, prepare your own meals, stay with family or friends, borrow a vacation home or have a simple staycation. Get creative and don’t burden yourself and your family with debt.
You can save hundreds of dollars by eating frugally. Stop eating out. Plan menus and learn to cook as a family this summer. Carry snacks at all times and don’t give in to fast-food.
Cut back on everything that’s not a need and enjoy the free things offered in your community. Use the library, enjoy the parks, ride bikes, talk a walk and play board games together.
Summer’s a great time to begin the habit of family devotions each night. Read scripture, have family members express gratitude for what God’s doing in their life. Memorize scripture together, and pray – it’s a gift your children will carry the rest of their lives. And try one of our Online Studies to supercharge your finances.
Remember, vacations are a necessary part of life. They don’t need to be extravagant! God designed regular times of rest for us because we need them to be productive.
No matter where you go or what you do, get some down time this summer.
If debt’s an issue in your life, try using a debt management plan starting today. I highly recommend Christian Credit Counselors. For more information, call the Crown Helpline at 800-722-1976 or go online to crown.org/ccc
