What Does the Bible Say About Debt?

Out of all the couples I’ve counseled over the years, there’s one question that seems to be the most common.

The question?  “What does the Bible say about debt?”

Well…the Bible never says that debt is a sin. But it strongly warns us about debt because of the dangers that come with it.

Proverbs says that the borrower is slave to the lender. This means that if you’re in debt, you’re giving up some of your freedoms and will experience the burdens and pressures of it.

Instead, God wants us to experience freedom and margin in our finances – so He can better use us for His Kingdom.
