What the Bible Says About Integrity
Do you value integrity?
How we use money reveals what we believe about money. Just look around and see the devastating effects of deception. We must learn to maintain a personal policy of never compromising our integrity. The Bible is full of promises for those who live this way. In 1 Chronicles 29, David prayed, “I know, my God, that you test the heart and are pleased with integrity.” (1 Chronicles 29:17) In Psalms 25 and 41 David said:
• “May integrity and uprightness protect me,
because my hope, Lord, is in you.” (Psalm 25:21)
• “Because of my integrity you uphold me
and set me in your presence forever.” (Psalm 41:12)
Solomon addressed it this way in the following Proverbs:
• “Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out.” (Proverbs 10:9)
• “The integrity of the upright guides them,
but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.” (Proverbs 11:3)
• “Righteousness guards the person of integrity,
but wickedness overthrows the sinner.” (Proverbs 13:6)
Several centuries later, Nehemiah returned to Jerusalem to rebuild its walls. He put his brother Hanani in charge, “because he was a man of integrity and feared God more than most people do.” (Nehemiah 7:2) Later still, the Apostle Paul instructed Titus, “… set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness, and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned…” (Titus 2:7-8) Brothers and sisters, God reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation. Let’s commit to walk faithfully, with integrity of heart, for we are Christ’s ambassadors.
